DISCOGRAPHY
BAND BIO
Skar Tissue was an experimental cybergrind project formed by Mark Howitt in the early 2000's. The project only produced one self-titled album, which was written and recorded in 2001 and later self-released in 2003.
The songs were raw and primal as a result of using a dollar store microphone to record the guitar and vocal parts, and the drums were programmed using a drum machine and Fruity Loops. Skar Tissue was the first album that was self-produced by Mark Howitt and was essentially a trial-and-error learning process, using whatever means were available to get the songs recorded. This also added to the primitive rawness of the recordings.
In 2003, Skar Tissue appeared on a very rare 3-way split album with the bands Iron Bitchface from Canada, and Carnem Levare from Belgium. Iron Bitchface member K-Rot heard the Skar Tissue tracks after playing a show in Sudbury that Mark had booked for his band and asked if he was interested in being part of the split release. The album was released on K-Rot's label Slut Factory Records, and it is unknown how many copies of the split were ever released.
