NORDIKULT DISCOGRAPHY

NORDIKULT HISTORY

Nordikult is the solo black metal project that I started after I was learning how to use MIDI and keyboards and applying it to a studio recording setting. Essentially it was an experiment which resulted in a double album debut release, Relics I & 2, which was intended to be a concept trilogy. Since it was a black metal project, there was consideration to release them as Amaranth albums, but I felt the styles were very different as Amaranth was more melodic with classical and folk elements, and the Nordikult stuff was rawer and more experimental in nature.

Each Nordikult release has a different style incorporated into the music. The Relics were more of a raw symphonic black metal style, while Nordikult III was progressive and jazz influenced. Carcass Eater is a more savage and primal approach the black metal sound, incorporating DSBM into the Nordikult catalogue. It is expected that future releases will also experiment with other hybrid styles of black metal.

After recording the 4th album "Carcass Eater", I attempted to make each song on the entire album a music video, but after a few songs I decided it was best to just release the videos I had produced with the album so as to not lose the feel for the videos I had produced thus far. The songs that ended up with videos were Godsflesh, Casket Fungus, Naked and Bleeding and Carcass Eater. I also was a guest vocalist on the local black metal band For Mothers song "How the Wolves Shape the Rivers", released around the same time as Carcass Eater.

The video for Naked and Bleeding was banned from Youtube and other platforms due to its extreme violent imagery which seems unacceptable in today's counterculture setting, as it depicted images of self-harm. This was done in tribute to the DSBM style of the art form.

Nordikult is a much more savage natured project than previous black metal bands I've been involved in, and it is a way to release these types of emotional energy in musical form. Just as with all of my musical projects, they are a means of self-expression and Nordikult certainly fits into its own category in this regard.
